How it works
- A reflection board or light shows the exact shape of the dent.
- Steel tools reach behind the panel and slowly push the low spots up.
- Where there’s no access from behind, the dent is pulled from the outside with glue tabs.
- High spots are tapped down until the panel reads flat under the light.
When PDR works
Door dings, shopping-cart hits and most parking-lot dents are great PDR jobs, as long as the paint isn’t cracked. Many small dents take one to two hours.
When it doesn’t
If the paint is cracked or the metal is badly stretched, the panel needs a body shop. We’ll tell you that up front.
