Step back so the full door or fender is in frame. This shows where the dent sits.
Close-up
A close-up at an angle
Get close and shoot from the side so a reflection runs across the dent. This shows the size and depth.
- Daylight or open shade works best.
- Turn off the flash.
- Let a straight line, like a roofline, reflect across the dent.
- Include any cracked or chipped paint.
